Chilton Chong is a surgeon with over 10 years experience in major teaching hospitals across Australia and became as an associate of Southern Breast Oncology in 2014. His dual interests are in breast and thyroid surgery.
A graduate of the University of Melbourne Chilton obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011. In 2012 he underwent fellowship training in Adelaide, specialising in breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery before undertaking a fellowship at the Royal Perth Hospital in 2013 where he specialised in Oncoplastic and Reconstructive breast surgery. In so doing he became one of the first breast surgeons in Australia to have completed the two year post-fellowship training programme of Breast Surgeons Australia and New Zealand (BreastSurgANZ).
Chilton is certified by the Australasian Society of Ultrasound Medicine for clinician-performed ultrasound and is a member of Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons. He is also Adjunct Lecturer in Surgery at Monash University and is a recipient of the John Collins Fellow Medal from the Australian and New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group. He is both an invited reviewer and contributor of research in international academic journals in breast surgery.
Chilton understands the anxiety that comes with facing surgery and cancer and takes pride in putting his patients at ease through answering all their questions so that GPs know their patients will always be well-looked after.
